Letter: Helping wildlife (Courtesy of The Evening Argus - Brighton)
From the archive, first published Friday 22nd Jul 2005.
I would like to express my thanks to Roger and Fleur Musselle of Roger's Wildlife Rescue for the endless work they do caring for the injured and orphaned wildlife of Sussex.
While creatures in need are given care and sanctuary with them throughout the year, spring and early summer are the busiest and, as millions of people around the country tuned in to the final episode of BBC's Springwatch, the casualties had already started to flood in.
Thanks to Roger and Fleur's compassion, love of wildlife, vast knowledge and literally hours of sheer hard work, hundreds of animals will be rehabilitated and returned to their natural habitat - the Sussex countryside.
Their love of wildlife is inspiring and their work voluntary but with mouths to feed, bedding, vet's fees and other expenses, I know donations, which go directly to the care of these creatures, are always gratefully received.
Sussex is a beautiful county enriched by its diversity of wildlife and I would urge anyone who feels likewise to support Roger and Fleur by sending a donation to Roger's Wildlife Rescue, 37 Downs Valley Road, Woodingdean, Brighton, BN2 6RQ.
For a very modest subscription, they also produce a very professional monthly audio cassette tape with one-and-a-half hours of wildlife news, music, poems, letters and much more, with all proceeds going to the rehabilitation of casualties.
